Ruto promises economic boom during tour of Ukambani in Northeast

United Democratic Alliance flag-bearer William Ruto has claimed that there is a need to reshape the economy to improve the well-being of all Kenyans.

Ruto said on Saturday while on the campaign trail in Garissa and Kitui counties that if elected to office he will ensure youth and small and medium-sized entrepreneurs are empowered to meet their financial challenges.

The DP reiterated that the bottom-up economic model is the best way to boost economic growth and reduce poverty among Kenyans.

Ruto promised to provide the necessary agricultural inputs to enable the two counties to increase agricultural output.

“We are committed to improving farmer yields through improved education and advisory services, added value and the adoption of technology,” he said

“Kitui is among the districts that the Kenyan Kwanza Government will prioritize in providing water to realize its potential in agriculture and manufacturing.”

He also called on civil servants and local administrators to carry out their duties with the utmost professionalism and not be pressured into violating their moral values in the run-up to the August 9 general election.

“Officials must remain true to the reputation of serving Kenyans equally. They should not be intimidated or forced to promote any particular political agenda.”
