Dubai’s DP World launches e-commerce platform in Tanzania

DP World has announced the launch of its wholesale e-commerce platform in Tanzania.

The online marketplace will give Tanzanian companies better access to international markets. It will also provide a safer and more reliable supply chain through DP World’s global port and logistics network, it said in a statement.

The new platform will also allow companies to sell wholesale products in different categories at home and abroad. Additionally, it provides users with advanced technology and DP World’s physical infrastructure – which includes the Port of Berbera in Somaliland – to solve several key challenges facing the growth of e-commerce in Africa. This includes reliable processing, secure financial transactions and secure movement of goods.

This latest addition to follows last year’s launches in Kenya and Rwanda which have created an online business community of more than 1500 active merchants.
